The office of the Executive Chairman is the executive head of the Board. It oversees the daily exercise of executive functions.
It has the following Units:-


  1. Public Relations:

  2. The functions of this unit include;
    • Serving as the Board image maker.
    • Handling publicity for SUBEB initiatives using various media.
    • Establishing and maintaining relations with both internal and external publics of the Board.
    • Coordinating press briefings and conferences.
    • Handling SUBEB protocol requirements.
    • Preparing and managing internal communications - newsletter, bulletin, boards e.t.c
    • Establishing, maintaining and updating SUBEB website in liason with the ICT department.

  3. Internal Audit:

  4. The functions of this unit include;
    • Auditing of the Board and LGEAs revenue.
    • Carrying out prepayment audits.
    • Reviewing the books of accounts of the Board and the LGEAs.
    • Auditing of the goods recieved.
    • Updating fixed assets register and Fixed Asset Inventory Cards of the Board.
    • Updating fixed assets register and Fixed Asset Inventory Cards of Resource Centres in the LGEAs.
    • Conducting staff verification exercise.
    • Annual stock taking of the Board and LGEAs.
    • Valuating of the Board's store.
    • Conducting staff verification exercise for the Board and LGEAs.
    • Auditing use of school premises and DFS (school grant) utilization.
    • Auditing the financial statements of the Board.

  5. Legal:

  6. The functions of this unit include;
    • Processing of all contract agreements of the Board : UBEC, TETFUND etc.
    • Formalizing and supervising the execution of all necessay matters.
    • Rendering legal services to the Board on all necessary matters.
    • Attending to litigation matters involving the Board or its staff on official matters.

  7. Federal Teachers Scheme (FTS):

  8. The functions of this unit include;
    • Supporting UBEC Teams to recruit, train and post FTS Participating NCE teachers.
    • Mentoring and monitoring participants in the scheme.
    • Preparing and submitting periodic progress report of the scheme to FTS National Coordinator.
    • Overseeing the activities of the LGEAs FTS Desk Officers.
    • Visiting schools to ensure the presence of the posted FTS teachers.
    • Performing any other duty assigned by the Executive Chairman.
